My name is Lanessa Long, and I am a musician and songwriter. I have taught music for many years and specialise in musical theater, and pop singing and composition. Though I am primarily a vocalist and songwriter, holding a Bachelors in Fine Arts in Music of Vocal Performance from the California Institute of the Arts, and having studied lyric writing at Falmouth University, I also have an extensive background in cello and piano. I am also an award-winning comic, and have traveled the world touring my one-woman musical comedy. I find that putting a comedic spin into my teaching helps free my students of their inhibitions: though they know to take what they do seriously and to have a respect for their craft, they know that learning does not, and should not, come without joy.
Music is the thing I love the most in the world, it’s how I process it. Bringing that joy to others is one of the greatest joys of my life. I believe that sometimes we have an emotion that demands to be processed, perhaps only in a way that the liberation of singing can give us.
I teach private voice, piano, and songwriting, and believe singing - whether through our voice or through an “out of body” instrument (piano!), to be the most pure and joyous way for us to live, and am passionate about bringing that into the lives of my students.
Please email me about my rates or with questions on the contact form, or to firstname.lastname@example.org. I offer a free 30-minute consultation to ensure we are a good fit. I teach all ages and genders, and am available to do in-home lessons.
